UCGC Mission

The Utah Color Guard Circuit (UCGC) is a non-profit, youth-educational organization dedicated to fostering growth in performers, instructors, and designers of the color guard and winter guard activities throughout the state of Utah. The UCGC is organized and operated exclusively to support and benefit its member units that engage in winter guard sponsored activities. It is the goal of the UCGC to promote winter guard in Utah by providing opportunities for all interested units to learn from each other and compete against each other, in friendly and fair venues.

Winter guard is often called the “Sport of the Arts” because it brings music to life through performance in a competitive format. This Sport of the Arts provides a venue for young people to achieve the extraordinary through both performance and competition.

The UCGC:

  • Oversees and directs competitive events during the winter guard season.
  • Provides educational opportunities for both students and directors through various clinics, masterclasses, and workshops.
  • Works to build strong relationships with school administrators, band directors, unit directors, parents, and students.
  • Nurtures and educates its younger units, encourages its intermediate units, and helps to prepare its more advanced units for competition at a national, as well as local, level.
  • Helps units meets their competitive needs, while simultaneously encouraging individual members to grow as performers, team members, and most importantly, contributing members of society who recognize the positive impact that the pageantry arts and other performing arts have on our communities.
